Do Ghosts Really Exist?

Category: Misc 480 9

Ghosts can be found in virtually every culture in every time period.[1] From the ancient Epic of Gilgamesh to the modern classic A Christmas Carol ghost stories have entertained millions of people throughout history. In 2006, the Barna Group published results from a nationwide study where they found that 73% of young people have “engaged in at least one type of psychic or witchcraft-related activity, beyond mere media exposure or horoscope usage.” More than one-third of teenagers have used an Ouija board, one-tenth have been involved with séances, and nine percent have visited a medium or spiritual guide.

The study notes that it is common for teenagers to “cut and paste supernatural experiences and perspectives from a variety of sources – from the movies and books they read, from their experiences, from the Internet, from their peers and families, from any place they’re comfortable with.” This is, of course, a problem with adults as well.[2]

The Biblical Teaching

How are Christians supposed to respond to the idea of ghosts? Many Christians believe that ghosts are real. But is this the teaching of Scripture? First off, we need to define what we mean about ghosts. A ghost is the lingering spirit of a creature after death (especially humans).

To put it simply, Scripture never portrays people lingering on earth after they die. Instead, it teaches that believers go straight to be with the Lord in heaven upon dying (Luke 16:22-23; 23:43; and 2 Corinthians 5:8), and Luke 16:23 tells about the rich man going straight to hell. These passages teach us that after people die, they do not linger around on this planet anymore.

Believing that ghosts are real forces us to reject certain parts of Scripture, and this can cast serious doubt on the rest of the Bible. If the passages just mentioned cannot be trusted, then why should we trust other parts? If Scripture is wrong on lingering spirits, then how can a Christian trust it on heaven and hell?[3]

How do we explain what people are seeing?

So, how are we to explain what millions of people throughout history have seen? It would be easy just to say that all of these people are either lying, misinterpreting natural phenomena, or even hallucinating. No doubt these explanations can explain a lot of ghost sightings but is it possible that some people are seeing (or hearing) something? I believe that it is possible, and I believe there is a very good explanation biblically to what is going on.

Throughout the Bible, we hear about heavenly beings called angels. The Bible has much to say about angels, for example, 1) they are spirits, but they always appear to humans as physical men (Hebrews 1:14; Genesis 19:1; Luke 24:4) even to the point where they seem so real that we do not recognize them as being angels (Genesis 18:1-16; 19:5; Hebrews 13:2); 2) they are more powerful than men (2 Thessalonians 1:7; 2 Peter 2:11); 3) they can appear among and even interact with humans, even killing them (Genesis 16:9; 19:15; 1 Chronicles 21:15; Psalms 78:49; John 20:12). 2 Kings 19:35 even says that one angel, note only one, killed thousands of soldiers in one night; and 4) they are not to be worshipped (Romans 1:15; Colossians 2:18; Revelation 19:10).

In the New Testament, we find many different encounters with what the Bible calls demons, often equated with the fallen angels who rebelled with Satan. Acts 8:7 tells us of Philip preaching and “unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed.” Matthew 8:28-34 tells about two demon-possessed men who were so violent that no one could even pass by them. Jesus healed the men, and the demons went into a herd of pigs. Matthew 17:14-23 describes how Jesus healed a boy with a demon who would give the boy seizures and make him fall into the fire or the water. Matthew 12:22-28 teaches us that demons are governed by Satan. Bible scholar Charles Ryrie says:

“The very fact that demons can enter human or animal bodies shows they can pass through barriers that would restrict human beings…Demons are not humans; neither are they God. But they are superhuman with superior intelligence and experience and powers.”[4]

Researcher John Keel has noted that “The devil and his demons can, according to the literature [written throughout history], manifest themselves in almost any form and can physically imitate anything from angels to horrifying monsters with glowing eyes.”[5] Gary Bates notes:

“Although such occurrences are deceptive entities (fallen angels) manifesting from the spiritual realm, some might be surprised at their ability to manifest physically in our realm. This, once again, is due to a cultural idea about angels as being merely some sort of ethereal spirit (non-bodied) being and sometimes with fairy-type wings. The Bible indicates that angels are “ministering spirits” (Hebrews 1:14).[6]

These writers believe that what people see when they report a ghost is a demon. Scholar Ron Rhodes agrees with this by saying, “People sometimes genuinely encounter a spirit entity – though not a dead human. Some people encounter demonic spirits who may mimic dead people in order to deceive the living (see 1 John 4:1; 1 Timothy 4:1-3). Many who claim to have encountered such spirit entities have some prior involvement in the occult.”[7]

The idea that disembodied spirits of the dead roam the earth is not new. Occult manifestations have been around for thousands of years, and the Bible records occult practices being undertaken by Israel and Judah (this is one of the reasons why God had the Assyrians and Babylonians destroy Israel in Old Testament times). “Manifestations have often appeared in the guise of deceased persons and even dead relatives. It is a very powerful counterfeit, because it tugs on the emotional relationship and heartstrings of the person seeing the manifestation.”[8]

Because demons are the servants of Satan and the enemies of God, they have every reason to want to deceive a person – to cast doubt on God’s Word. Since the Bible teaches that humans do not stay on earth after death, but go straight to the present heaven or hell, then if someone sees a ghost, it can cast doubt on what the Bible teaches. Someone who sees a ghost may think: “The Bible teaches that ghosts are not dead people, but I just saw my great-grandmother’s ghost last week. So, the Bible must be false.”

As a side note, I want to make it clear that good angels would not appear to someone as a ghost. This would be deception, and deception is the expertise of Satan and his demons. Demons have a great interest in deceiving people so that few people will get into heaven. So don’t think for one moment that if you have seen a spirit then it was an angel – it would be a fallen angel (a demon), but not a good angel.

Problems with the demonic theory

Michael Patton, in a blog post titled “Do You Believe in Ghosts? The Christian View of the Paranormal,” lists a few potential problems with the idea that ghosts are always demons.

1) Many hauntings are said to be in places such as abandoned hospitals, towns, and the like. “These places are uninhabited and therefore do not seem suitable for a malicious demon to inhabit.”

2) Communication with ghosts is usually limited. “Shadows, moving objects, and faint voices [do] not seem effective toward the demonic agenda of confusion.”

3) We do not know where the present heaven and hell are.

4) Disembodied spirits of humans on the earth do not necessarily have to confuse the Christian worldview.

5) Certain features of hauntings (such as a child’s laughter and no personal engagement of the ghost) “seem to favor something other than a demonic spirit.”

6) The appearance of Samuel in 1 Samuel 28, and Elijah and Moses in Luke 9:29-33 shows us that believers can manifest themselves. Also, the disciples believed that Jesus was a ghost when he was walking on the water.

I am personally not convinced by these objections. Just because some hauntings are only a child’s laughter, shadows, or in limited places such as abandoned towns does not mean that they cannot be demons. Demons can, and will, try to confuse people about the afterlife in any way possible. In fact, only haunting an abandoned building will cause someone to think that it is not a demon (just like the blog post says), thus allowing for the possibility that the experiencer to question the Bible. Secondly, just because we do not know where the present heaven and hell are does not mean that the spirits of dead people are ghosts. Heaven and hell are not on Earth. Third, disembodied spirits of humans do confuse the Christian worldview as they go straight to God after death (Luke 16:22-23; 23:43; 2 Corinthians 5:8; Luke 16:23).

What about Samuel, Elijah, Moses, and Jesus?

There are a few places in Scripture that relate to the issue of ghosts. They involve the prophet Samuel (1 Samuel 28:7-21), Elijah and Moses (Luke 9:28-36), and Jesus (Mark 6:49) In Luke 9, Elijah and Moses make an appearance at Jesus’ transfiguration. Their appearance does not have anything to do with ghosts. Elijah and Moses’s appearance must have been physical in some way because Peter wanted to build a shelter for them (why would a ghost need a shelter?). Also, just because they appeared to Jesus does not mean that they can manifest themselves any time they want or that they linger on the earth. They appeared for a purpose – it was Jesus’ transfiguration.

1 Samuel 28:7-21 gives us an account of King Saul visiting a medium because he wanted her to summon the prophet Samuel from the grave. Samuel appears and causes the medium to cry out in fear. Does this passage show that a ghost of a person can come back from the dead or that spiritual mediums and witchcraft work?

Gary Bates notes that “if God has the ultimate power over our spirits, how can the witch call up a departed spirit? I believe this may have been allowed via a sovereign act of God as a mechanism of punishing and pronouncing judgment on a rebellious Saul….When one reads the passage, it is noteworthy that the witch herself was taken by surprise when she saw that it actually was Samuel.”[9]

He adds, “The story reflects the reality of falling from grace, and being out of God’s favor, by following one’s own desires instead of being obedient. Samuel did not give advice but pronounced the penalty for Saul’s disobedience, which in part including partaking in forbidden rituals. It is thus not something that affirms biblical support for the idea of ghosts.”[10]

It’s a ghost!

But did not the disciples believe in ghosts (Mark 6:49)? In different Bible translations, the words ‘ghost’ and ‘spirit’ are used interchangeably. This is where the reader can run into confusion. The King James Version uses the word ‘ghost’ extensively (“Holy Ghost,” for example, or “give up the ghost”), whereas more modern translations have used “spirit.” (“Holy Ghost” is now translated as “Holy Spirit.”) The change is a good one because the word “ghost” has changed its meaning over time. Culturally, in today’s world, “ghost” has the connotation of a wandering spirit of a dead person.[11]

But let’s assume for a second that the apostles thought he was a lingering spirit of a dead person. Does the fact that the disciples thought Jesus was a ghost mean that ghosts exist? Not necessarily. We must remember that the disciples had never seen anything like these events before (walking on the water and appearing to the disciples behind closed doors after the resurrection), so it is very likely that they resorted to explaining these events with ideas from their culture (which would have included ghosts).[12]

Bates makes an excellent point about the disciples referring to a ghost: “In fact, these are instances of the disciples failing to recognize Jesus’ divinity. Job 9:8 teaches that only God can tread on the waves, and after Jesus had just completed the feeding of the five thousand (which would have recalled God’s supernatural provision of manna for the Hebrews) they should have seen the significance of this miracle. So, even though the Gospels seem to indicate that the disciples believed in ghosts, Jesus’ followers are in any case not being presented as models for belief or obedience at that stage. In fact, they continually miss the point.”[13]

It is also possible that the disciples thought that they were seeing an angel or demon since angels are spirits (“ghosts” in the old meaning of the term).

Conclusion

There is no room in traditional, orthodox theology for departed spirits to be roaming the Earth. There is another explanation for what people have been experiencing throughout the ages – rebellious spirits known as demons that take advantage of people any chance that they get.[14] For these reasons, I do not think that Christians should believe that the ghost of a person wanders the Earth after death. The Bible teaches the opposite. If you ever see a ghost, you are not seeing a dead person’s spirit, but a demon, a follower of Satan.

[9] Ibid. Who Samuel was in these verses has resulted in two different interpretations. First, some think that God sent Samuel back to appear to Saul. Second, others note that it must have been a demon in disguise because Samuel prophesized something that never came to pass. The apparition warned Saul that all of Saul’s sons would die the very next day However, not all of Saul’s sons died (Barry, 33).

However, Bates disagrees that it was a demon in disguise. He bases this on the fact that “there is no biblical or other evidence that demons can foretell the future (although they often claim to be prophets via a variety of deceptive guises) and the prophecy about Samuel came to pass. Moreover, Samuel berates Saul for disobeying God in this way. Seeking after the dead is something that deceptive spirits would encourage, not admonish. And indeed, the next day, Saul’s army was routed and Saul committed suicide” (Bates). It should also be noted that verse 19 does not say that all of Saul’s sons would die.

Thanks for your comment. I read your post on your experience. I would be scared too. My first thought was that you may have had a bad dream, but you didn’t mention one (do you remember having one?) If not, it may be possible that you had an experience with a demon. I don’t know your religious experiences so I hope it is ok if I ask you a couple questions.

What are your religious beliefs? I know that people in some religions and denominations tend to have a higher chance of experiencing a demonic spirit than others. Have you or anyone else in your family ever been involved in any kind of occult experience? I ask this because, even if you only have done so once or twice, you will have a much greater chance of having an encounter with a spiritual entity than someone who has not.

I hope this helps explain what happened. To go any further I would need the answers to the questions I asked.

Thank you for replying, I would be more than happy to answer your questions.

I do remember of not having any dreams at all. it was just all blank. I was really exhausted and that might be causing me having a bad dreams? but then again there is possibilities since I have other experiences.

I am Muslim, and many people do believe in ghost, well this would not be a good word for it, lets say spirit. most of them do believes that there are goods, and there are bads, and the bads are demon. And most of them doesn’t believe at all. Well as far as I know there is no on that I know of who practices anything or anything like this, but I can tell you something, one of my relative was possessed by one in my Country, when I used to live there. and I really don’t think there is much you would want to know to help me about it. If you want, I would be happy to tell you my other experience, short one.

I also do believe in these, but then again its just my belief.

Is it something that has to do with the zodiac sign? I mean, I heard such things before that people with certain zodiac sign has greater possibilities to experience more than other people. If that makes any sense. Would love to get back from you. Thank you!

My first thought was that you may have had a bad dream, but it may not have been since you mentioned you have had another experience before. Having a relative experience a possession may increase the chances of the paranormal. Zodiac signs are part of the Occult/New Age religion so if someone really believes in those signs then that could invite an evil spirit (demon) into your life. Stay away from anything related with witchcraft.

I have been communicating with the Spirit World for over 40 years now. And yes I have captured spirits on camera. Communication is by telepathy of course as spirits cannot physically speak. You might be interested in reading my last two posts – true stories of children communicating with family members from the Spirit World.

      @ Ghostbusterbev

Thanks for your comment. You seem to have a lot of experience with communicating with spirits. I have a few comments to make. First, what are your religious beliefs? Biblically speaking, any form of communication with spirits is forbidden (see for example Leviticus 19:31; 20:6; Isaiah 8:19; 19:3).

Secondly, you note that this communication with these spirits is by telepathy since spirits cannot physically speak. However, this seems to be at odds with what other people say (even the Bible). The Bible specifically says that Samuel (in 1 Samuel 28), Elijah and Moses (during the transfiguration of Christ), and even the demons that Jesus confronted physically spoke (no evidence of telepathy in these passages). Also, there are many other people who have had experiences with the spirit world who will say that the spirit did speak to them physically. This is a major problem with all the different reports about ghosts. They are very subjective. Some will see or hear something that will contradict what another person saw. Who is right? This is when we need to look to the Bible. Luke 16:19-31 teaches that no one who is dead will come back to speak with the living.

Thirdly, you mention that children have been communicating with family members. Do you have any reason to believe that those spirits are particular family members? Demons have every motivation to deceive anyone in any way possible. This is especially true in emotional times. If you have just lost a family member, then you have a high chance of being deceived. I know that you probably wouldn’t like me saying this to you, but I say it with kindness: the spirits that you have been talking to are not the spirits of deceased human beings – they are demonic beings who have every desire to see you believe their lies and for you to reject the God of the Bible and take part in the new heavens and New Earth.

When I was a little girl, I used to answer the phone when my mom was in the bathroom, and a voice that I knew was Satan was on the line. The phone was not plugged into the wall, it was a real phone but even unplugged it rang. I do not remember what he ever said to me but I remember the incidents. I also had a dream, so I am told, where I let out a blood curdling scream that terrified my mother and step dad so bad they could not get out of bed for the paralyzing fear in their bodies. Mom said she prayed and I stopped screaming but they were too afraid to check on me until morning. we moved and I was about 4 or 5 we lived in an another apartment complex that caught on fire across the garden area, Something in my room told me to light an incense that was on my dresser, I lit it, and some how it threw itself onto my bed and tried to light it on fire- My mother was up and just felt the need to check on me and caught the fire. I was terrified and felt surreal. I had many ghost dreams where ghosts were flying around and haunting us in that apartment as well. We moved to a house my parents purchased and when I was around 10 I was listening to the stereo player in an extra room and some black whispy things about the size of an adults hand were flying and circling around me. I felt an immense sense of terror and I tore out of the extra room like a shot nearly running my step dad down in the hallway. As a teenager, I went canoeing down Spring River in Arkansas with some friends. There was a fork in the river and 1 side of the fork had water flowing 1 way and the other side was flowing the usual way- My friends were piddling around in the boat on the far side so I got out of our boat and let my bf take it to battle his buddy , i wanted to sit on some rocks where water was cascading over making a small waterfall, maybe 1 or 2 feet high. I stood up and slipped and went directly under water into an underwater rock cave, I could not tell which way was up and it was so dark I could not see ; so I let out a few bubbles to feel which way they floated so I could find which was was up- i was still upright but all I could feel above me was rock so I prayed and reached out my hand- Something grabbed my wrist and yanked me straight up through rock- left me standing there in disbelief. I never saw what grabbed me and I heard no words. I knew and angel from the Lord had saved me that day. My friends saw Nothing, I couldn’t believe it. But they were looking at me like I was a freak then they shrugged off what ever feeling they had and went back to paddling against the currents. As an adult I have twice been saved from vehicle disasters. Both times my husband and my oldest son were in the car. 1st time it was snowing heavily and we were just married and towing a small uhaul trailer behind my husbands Nissan on the way to Virginia from Arkansas. A big rig blew past us and spit up pounds of ice and slushy snow all over the windshield- The wipers were of no use, they were stuck under the weight, the car veered off the highway doing over 55 straight down an embankment , I prayed and my husband grabbed the wheel trying to control the car, I heard a male voice say NO- it was not me, i thought it was my husband, he thought it was me- He also thought I was fighting him on the wheel, I wasn’t, my hands had been taken over. Suddenly there was light and we could see were hurling over ice and snow down an embankment with a concrete ditch and heading straight for a lamp post. Some how or another we came to a slow easy stop about 5 feet away from the lamp post and just before the concrete v shaped ditch. No tracks in the snow heading towards the lamp post, It was like we were moved in space and time. By all accounts we should have rammed the concrete embankment ditch and probably died. The other time we were in the same car in Virginia and I was driving too fast and the breaks went out without warning at a hard to see stop sign with Huge ditches on either side heading down a hill. I started pumping the breaks and nothing- So I prayed, if i had thrown us into park we would have gone wildly flipping , the car just seemingly on it’s own stopped and out of the blue a HUGE silver bus doing what felt like 80 mph just barely missed the front end of the car by inches. We both felt the bus was not real- it felt evil as it bulleted past. It was not a road which buses traveled. We also were driving down the highway in West Virginia and saw a person with a pigs head that disappeared, there was no were for it to go, nothing but field on that side. We still feel eerily creeped out to this day over it. That was almost 20 years ago. We eventually moved to Memphis into my grandparents old house where i often at night distinctly experienced a finger poking my back to wake me up, it caused me to sleep facing outward still to this day unless I am exhausted, i cant relax and fall asleep with my back facing the outside of the beds edge. The neighbors who were atheists, their children said the house was haunted by something in the back yard. The kids never would tell us what. Their parents had purchased my old play set that my grandpa had built for me as a kid but they were too scared to play on it because it came from our back yard. In that same house i had for the 1st time in my life fasted and prayed to God in repentance – I had never done that or understood it even, I knew who God and Jesus were but I just got a hair up and decided to fast. I stood up and heard and felt something I can only describe as a stick inside me like it snapped back together and suddenly i could sort of see everything i ever did or even thought to myself that was wrong, I instantly knew everything I ever did and I realised the bible story of the woman at the well , what she meant, Jesus didnt sit and yammer on and on about her sins- He impressed them on her spiritually ALL at once like your life flashing before your eyes kind of thing. Later I prayed for forgiveness for some things i felt needed to be sorted out and I heard an audible voice outside of myself but higher above me say “You are forgiven”- that was it, nothing else. I called out “Jesus?” nothing else. We moved to our own home in Memphis eventually and I had a dream that I was witnessing a murder-> I went to bed around midnight, fell fast asleep and was suddenly traveling in a small bubble that i knew to be like what some people refer to as “orbs” into a dark house where I saw what i can only describe as a black shadowy devil crickety creature skinning a woman alive, I could feel myself coming out of the bubble some how out of my control and she looked over and saw my face in the bubble and reached out to me and asked me “help” , the creature looked up and saw me and i sucked back into the bubble in fear that it might recognize who i was and suddenly i woke up in my bed and it was day light-> a male voice awoke me by calling my name very forceful in my ear, i thought it was my husband so i sat up happy to be awoken from that nightmare, he wasn’t there, the house was empty, he had been gone for a few hours already to work. I saw on the news mention of a woman in our neighborhood that had been murdered and skinned by a large man and rolled up in a rug and set on the curb- I looked for weeks on the internet and never found a thing about it. It left me cold and just empty and weirded out. I have looked a few times over the years and never find anything. I have heard audible voices with no visible body a few times in my life- Before we moved to memphis we rented a couple houses for a short time in Arkansas, in one of them My husband and I both were awakened from a deep sleep one night to a voice from the corner of our bedroom , it said> “Get Out”. That same house my brother was knocked unconscious in a room that was converted into a playroom from an old garage, that room would often have a faint smoke above the carpet- which I thought was from bad carpeting. It may or may not have been but the smoke would appear in 1 side of the room by the window and roll across the floor half way and disappear. We decided to get the heck out when at my birthday party a face appeared in the paneling of the wall of that play room. My brother was sitting at the kitchen table next to me between me and the room and he said, hey sis, what the hell is that- I said, my q to move. he said, has it always been there, i said nope. thats new and im done. Also at the house we purchased in Memphis after a long road trip to New Mexico we came home and I went to the back yard to check on the dog (my dad came by every day to make sure he was ok and well feed watered and had access to the garage where we cornered off a section for the dog to house in at night or if he got hot during the day) I saw what is commonly referred to as a shadow man, in broad daylight in my back yard petting my dang dog- I had never heard of such a thing at the time, I stood there in disbelief for a moment and it looked up at me, no eyes, but i could tell by the movement of the head it had looked up from teh dog towards me and it stood on bended knee for a moment and then shot up and ran towards the back of our yard where there was a lof of bamboo and bushes growing- i heard it hopped our chain link fence , so i tore out of the gate to chase after it- i have No idea what i thought i was doing- suddenly it disappeared- I could still hear it’s foot steps running away but could no longer see it. I came to my sense really quick and retreated myself lol The next day I went to the fence where I heard it jump over – the cross section of the pole of the fence was bent. Something heavy had clearly jumped over it and bent the pole. I also, in a house we rented have seen my own doppelganger- I had never heard of those either until I saw myself walking around the foot of my bed, but I was wearing different clothes- Freaked me out- so I asked a friend and she told me what it was. I thought i was maybe going to die because i had seen my own doppelganger, that apparently is the legend. You see it, you die. Stupid, I know but i worried for a while. Ive also been attacked in my sleep by a dragon looking cloud of white silky smoke- It came swimming in the air at me, the way a snake moves on the ground, and entered into my brain and couldn’t stay- I felt the whiteness in my mind it was blinding and madness ,I could feel it tried to stay just to torture me, I some how knew its intent was to torment me, but I woke up and it couldn’t finish its plan- i was completely panicked , like where you can not breath or feel your getting a full breath and had panic attacks for no reason for the longest afterwards. Our family has other stories, some of the older people said a demon followed our family around. My great grandad on my moms side was said by some family to be an evil hateful man others said he wasn’t. I know he was said to have robbed a bank and left his first wife and 2 daughters (where the sisters grew up and owned whore houses, i met onand i have contact with her niece from the other daughter to this day) but grandad married another woman in Arkansas who he abused and tried to kill her, wrecked their car slamming her side into some trees and she lost an eye from the event. Didnt kill her though and they stayed together in the woods with a bunch of boys they had together. My moms dad , did not fare well, grandad tortured him i have heard and he grew up to be a hateful man who abused a lot of people, including sexual abuse and committed some kind of crimes, i dont know but it landed him in prison. He died – but I used to have a reoccurring dream that i was trapped inside his house and it was a maze to get out, i dreamt it over and over until i was able to actually get out of the house, once i was able to get out i stopped dreaming it. but it was a horrible nightmare that would occur over and over until i was in my 20’s. ALl of this crap led me to occultism- caused me to doubt my Lord and Savior and return to my own vomit like a dog- Yes, demons are real ad they will jack with you mercilessly if you are not strong in the word they can seemingly overcome your better senses and cause you to lead many astray- I can attest to that fact.

Not West Virginia- I don’t know where the word “west” came from, it should have read Virginia Beach, Virginia not West Virginia.- sorry for that and the choppy sentences and typos, I try to keep it short and I get so bogged in trying to remember it all that it is even difficult to keep it all in chronological order and I leave a lot of pertinent information out for pg sake- I have had a weird life experience that I don’t expect you to believe because I know how it sounds – bonkers-but I don’t wish it on anyone. People need to know how real and present these things are and what all they can do. Outside of telling some of my story, I can see no reason for having gone through it. I have come out the other side stronger and more stable and knowledgeable in my faith; but I wish I had never faltered. Most of my life is good, Now days it is nearly all good, but there are events and things that plague my heart and my sleep to this day that still interrupt my faith and relationship with Jesus all because I slipped and fell during “the race” and had such a horrible stupid time of it. I was fooled and led others the wrong way. Nothing I can do about that except warn others. Those who dabble in this business are under spiritual attack and don’t even know it. They think they are choosing it because it is interesting and they are curios. They are being tricked by evil beings and it is a shame when and if they figure it out, they will feel the full breadth and weight of what they have spiritually done to every one around them. There is no sorrow like it.
